About the Farmsitter

Hello!

Welcome to High Country Farm Sitting Services. My name is Zoe and I am the owner-operator of High Country Farm Sitting Services. In November of 2021, I am celebrating 3 years in business as a full-time farm sitter.

I am a graduate of Appalachian State University, holding a Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Development with a concentration in Agroecology and Sustainable Agriculture. I am very happy to call the High Country of North Carolina my home. I have 15+ years of horse experience, and have worked at a variety of farms, stables and greenhouses throughout the years. I have also worked with, cared for, and owned a variety of animals, and have farming, gardening, farm-sitting and care-taking experience. My farm sitting service is fully insured and bonded through Pet Sitters International's recommended insurance company, Business Insurer of the Carolinas. I worked as a licensed  horseback riding instructor through Blessings Farm Inc. in Massachusetts for several years, and have also worked as an insured horseback riding instructor through the NC Horse Council for several years.

Through the last three years of farm sitting professionally, I have worked extensively with animals of all kinds, and have worked on farms caring for  horses (standards, drafts and minis), ponies, donkeys, cows, yaks, pigs, sheep, goats, alpacas, chickens, ducks, doves, fish, and dogs of all breeds and sizes, including livestock guardian dogs. I also pet sit in addition to caring for farms, and have cared for a large number of different dogs and cats of various breeds and sizes, as well guinea pigs, hamsters, rabbits, snakes and frogs, and just about every animal that qualifies as being a pet! Through my farm sitting business, I have been privileged to work for many amazing people that I am proud to call my clients, and have enjoyed working with and caring for an outstanding variety of different animals. As you can see on the reviews page of this website, I love my work and the animals I care for, and it shows in the  positive reviews and recommendations of my clients.

As a sustainable agriculture graduate, farm employee, and hopeful future farmer,  I realize that farming is hard work and that it is tough for farmers to ever get away, especially if they have livestock. Having cared for and owned a variety of animals, I also realize how nerve-racking it can be to leave them, or your farm,  in someone else’s care. High Country Farm Sitting Services wants to make it easier for you to get away for a much needed rest or vacation while feeling at peace leaving your farm in our care. It is my promise that each farm receives the very best of my attention, commitment, hard work, responsibility and dedication to doing things right. I look forward to meeting you in the future and enjoying the opportunity to care for your farm!
